MICHIGAN MEDICINE TURNER SENIOR RESOURCE CENTER

For patients of Michigan Medicine, the Turner Senior Resource Center (TSRC) is your first stop to connect to programs and services in your community. TSRC offers many types of outreach programs and activities serving older adults. These programs include respite, senior wellness programs, memory clubs for those with dementia, a housing bureau to learn about options for housing and care for themselves or other adults they may be caring for, and more. EXHALE FAMILY RESPITE PROGRAMS

The EXHALE Family Caregiver Respite Programs are available in southeast Michigan, and provide respite care services to family caregivers, from drop-in respite care to meal delivery services for your loved one.  Click below to connect directly and learn more about their EXHALE respite care program and other caregiver support services they offer.

MICHIGAN VETERANS AFFAIRS AGENCY

Through the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, which is part of the VA, caregivers can apply for the Program for Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) which pays a loved one who is caring for a Veteran receiving care through the VA, and Program for General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS), which is for anyone caring for a Veteran and provides education, resources and access to support groups. Each VA Medical Center has a Caregiver Support Coordinator available to assist you with enrolling in these programs. For help, contact your local Caregiver Support Coordinator using the Caregiver Support Coordinator search tool, or call the VA Caregiver Support Line, at 1-855-260-3274. 

MICHIGAN LEGAL HELP

For caregivers in Michigan who may not be able to hire an attorney, but need legal assistance, Michigan Legal Help offers free self-help tools for dealing with issues like divorce and family problems, wills and estate planning, public assistance like food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid, social security and more. MI BRIDGES

MI Bridges, sponsored by the State of Michigan, allows you to apply for benefits that help Michigan residents pay for things, like:

  • Healthcare coverage – helps with healthcare costs, 

  • Food Assistance Program – helps you buy food

  • Cash Assistance – provides base to parents with childnre, people with disabilities, refugees, and people over 65

  • Women, Infants and Children (WIC) – provides food, referrals, and education to mothers, infants, and young children

  • Child Development & Care – helps cover childcare costs for working families, and

  • Michigan State Emergency Relief funds  - helps cover the costs of emergency situations

This is a 24/7 service that you can contact to aid you in meeting basic needs such as; health care, housing, food, addiction and other resources tailored to your issue.

DETROIT AREA AGENCY ON AGING

The Detroit Area Agency on Aging provides caregiver resources including· a personalized caregiver assessment, respite, events focused on caregivers as well as advocacy and training. They also provide caregiver education classes including courses to reduce stress, make tough decisions, locate helpful resources, and more. Click below to connect.

HENRY FORD HEALTH’S C.A.R.E. PROGRAM

The C.A.R.E. Program supports family caregivers through Southeast Michigan and beyond, providing virtual and in-person support groups and educational sessions to support the caregiving community.  We can also provide one-on-one guidance to assist caregivers in their journey.

THE SENIOR ALLIANCE

The Senior Alliance provides older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers in southern and western Wayne County access a wide range of programs including Meals on Wheels, transportation, adult day care, in-home care, and much more.

JFS OF METRO DETROIT FAMILY CAREGIVER SUPPORT PROGRAM
